Needs Assessment Questions

The list below reflects the list of potential questions for the needs assessment. The final list of questions and the potential list of questions will be maintained on this page with notes for historical reference. Horizontal lines indicate survey pagination.

  1. How important is data about the following to your position and work:

    • The UW's environmental sustainability efforts
    • Your department's environmental sustainability efforts
    • Your unit's environmental sustainability efforts (if applicable)

    The previous question breaks out possible responses into a matrix of very important, important, moderately important, not very important, irrelevant, and N/A.
  2. Does your department or unit track its resource consumption of any resources (paper use, water, electricity, lighting, physical footprint, etc.) on either a formal or informal basis? If so, what data does it track?
  3. Does your department or unit track its environmental outputs (air pollution, waste generation, recycling, sewage, etc.) on either a formal or informal basis? If so, what data does it track?
  4. Do you track your resource consumption or environmental outputs at work as described in the previous two sections? If so, what data do you track?

  6. What sustainability data would be most relevant for your department or unit to be aware of?
  7. Does your department or unit have specific sustainability, conservation, or resource usage goals? If so, what are they?
  8. If a centralized data bank for the University of Washington's environmental sustainability data existed, would you use it? Why or why not?
  9. What data can the University of Washington provide that would be most relevant to your assessment of the University's commitment to and progress towards environmental sustainability?
